Operates the switchboard, providing routine information and directs calls to the appropriate extensions.  Notifies the staff appropriately during codes or code drills.  Performs various clerical and office duties of an HIM technician to maintain the operations of assigned area(s).  The position will provide support services but not limited to mail/fax distribution, release of information, electronic medical record functions, medical record deficiency analysis, scanning and indexing, and purging of paper medical records. Will maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

  • EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • EXPERIENCE: Some previous healthcare experience preferred
    • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with accurate typing skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to follow detailed verbal and written instructions
    • Able to work independently, organize and prioritize functions
    • Flexibility in scheduled work hours to cover the switchboard to meet the needs of the department
    • Prior switchboard experience helpful
    • Excellent customer service skills
