The Registered Nurse performs established procedures in accordance with hospital and the department of patient care services philosophy, policies, and standards. Care is provided with consideration to developmental needs and abilities. The RN uses the nursing process to ensure the delivery of high-quality evidence-based nursing care to the patient and family, based upon knowledge and experience as defined by: Illinois Nurse Practice Act, Patient’s Bill of Rights, Policies and procedures established by the Patient Care Services, The Standards of Nursing Practice published by The American Nurses Association and/or nationally recognized nursing or health-care specialty organizations
Professional Conduct Standards (ANA Code of Ethics, 2001)
In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the general RN job description, the ambulatory serves RN is responsible for the following standards.
Keeps abreast on all pertinent federal, state and company regulations, laws and policies as they currently exist and as they change or are modified.
Follows hospital policy regarding discharge criteria for outpatients
Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program
Current IL RN License
Current BLS from American Heart Association
At least two years of previous experience as an RN working an office setting
Infusion experience, Chemotherapy and Blood products
ACLS and PALS recommended
